  • Responding to various crime and accident scenes
  • Collecting, preserving, and documenting evidence
  • Conducting latent print examinations and other forensic analyses
  • Photographing crime scenes and persons involved in criminal investigations
  • Maintaining crime scene tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Providing guidance and assistance to police officers and detectives
  • Completing detailed reports of crime scene findings
  • Testifying in court as required


  • No prior experience required, but experience as a crime scene investigator is preferred
  • Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Natural/Forensic Science, or related field preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required; insurability must be maintained
  • International Association for Identification (IAI) and Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) Certification preferred

Selection process includes a panel interview, pre-employment drug screening, background investigation, driving history check, and potentially a polygraph or CVSA examination administered by our Police Department.
